2nd row – 5 ch. 1 t. over each t. and into 4 ch. On corner, 8 ch. 4 t, on other 4 ch. T. over t. and so on around square.

3rd row – ch. 5 sl. Into st. between rows, make sc. Ro. Square taking up but one st. This makes the ridge, continue rows to size of squares desired.

Border row. Square 5 ch. 4 t. 2 ch. Wind thread twice ro. Needle go into 4 t. pull through 2 loops then 1 loop catch in center of last t. and work stitches off needle two at a time. This makes the cross bar, 4 t. 1 crossbar. Continue around this bed spread pattern.
