Crochet hat pattern easy: This dressy cap is for a child one and a half to two years old and is crocheted in white yarn with the three ornamental buttons in blue sweater silk. It can be made larger or smaller by increasing or leaving off the widenings, and for an older child may be worked in tobacco brown, dark brown, or navy blue.

Materials: Corticelli Angola Yarn, 2 balls white, corticelli sweater silk, 1 ball baby blue. One no.4 bone crochet hook.

Instructions: Ch. 64 sts. Work round and round, 5 rows fancy st., which is (wool over needle, draw loop through st., wool over, draw through one, wool over, draw through two). Crochet 8 rows more the same, widening twice on each side, crochet 1 st. between widenings on first row, and on each succeeding row let the widening sts. come between the widenings.

Crochet 16 more rows without widening. Break wool. Join wool at same place, but work the other way around so that the band will turn up over cap.

Band: 1 row d.c., 1 row puff st. (always ch.3 to begin row, wool over, draw loop through, wool over, draw loop through, wool over, draw through all 5 sts. on needle), 1 row d.c., 1 row puff st., 1 row d.c., 1 row puff st., 2 rows fancy st.

Turn back to first row d.c. made. Fasten top down on side to the depth of the first 5 rows and fasten down with 3 crocheted silk buttons with a chain of crocheted silk fastened underneath the buttons to represent buttonholes.
