Georgette hat with ribbon crown

Crochet hat patterns: The crown of the hat may be adapted to any frame and is crocheted in turquoise satin ribbon. The wide brim is of gold colored georgette over a lining of rose messaline. A pair of handsome knitting needles with points incased in hand-painted tops are slipped hrough a rosette of the ribbon and solve the trimming question in a unique and effective manner.

Materials: Corticelli no. 1.5 Turquoise Satin Ribbon, 3 fifty yard spools. One no. 5 bone Crochet hook.

Instructions:

Ch. 2, 4, s.c. in first ch. Made.

2d row: 2 s.c. in each st., then work round and round in s.c., increasing enough to keep work perfectly flat unil there are 6 rows, then make 1 row of Star stitch, 7 rows of s.c., only widening in the s.c., never when making the Star stitch.

Repeat these two patterns until work is sufficiently large to cover crown of hat, then work the same but do not widen any more until of sufficient depth to fit the frame.

Finish at bottom with beading: Cl. 3, thread over, draw loop through first ch. Made, drawing this loop up to the same length as chain, thread over, draw through all stitches on the needle, ch. 1 and fasten into preceding row with s.c. at a distance of just the length of this beading
