Embroidery Algerian Stitch

A kind of Cross stitch somewhat akin to Cretan stitch, but worked on canvas. The stitch may either be worked very closely or openly. Bring the needle to the right side of the work. Count about five threads down, take up three threads. Cross over to the top line, and continue in the same way. (See Double Algerian stitch)
