Embroidery Darning

A species of weaving with the needle used in producing pattens by utilising the foundation threads of the material as warp threads. In ornamental darning little or no working shews on the under side, the working thread kept as much as possible on the upper side to shew the pattern in relief. The chief kinds of ornamental darning are:
(a) Straight;
(b) Waved;
(c) Diamond;
(d) Vandyke.
