Embroidery Quilting Stitch

A stitch used for quilting purposes. Generally the stitch is plain running (a), but sometimes a chain stitch is used to give a more ornamental effect (b). The quilted silk linking of embroided handkerchief and glove cases, scent sachets, etc are worked in this way.
