Bluebird Apron
Free craft pattern tutorial: The strip of four birds at the bottom of the apron
is 3 inches deep and 16 inches long, and the single bird at each end is 4 inches
long.
This same design could be used for a dresser cover by making
the necessary additional birds on the lengthwise strip and using four
birds at each end.
Materials: Corticelli Mercerized Cordonnet, art. 66, 3 balls white. One
no.12 steel crochet hook.
Instructions for this free craft pattern:
ch.66.
1st row: 20 op. Work the four birds for the bottom of apron from work pattern
no.856, working 11 rows of open mesh after the first bird, then make another
bird exactly the same as the first, work 11 more rows of open mesh, then work
two birds flying in the opposite directions. See illustration.
Beading: ch.30.
1st, 2d, and 3d rows: 8 ops.
4th row: 1 op., ch. 18, skip 5 d.c., d.c. in next d.c, 1 op.
5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th rows: 8 op.
11th row: Like 4th. Repeat from first row for 13 inches or length required.
Finish all around apron with s.c. with picot after every fourth stitch for this free craft pattern project.
