Free crochet patterns for baby tutorial: A practical out of door sleeping bag is crocheted all in one piece and entirely envelopes the child with the exception of the face.

It is worked in white wool and finished with crochet silk.

Make a chain 22 inches long and work all around chain on both sides with s.c. joining rows with sl.st., work around again in h.d.c., and continue in alternate rows of s.c. and h.d.c for 19 inches, or 73 rows, always taking up both sides of the stitch.

This brings work to the opening on front. Crochet halfway across one side of bag, ch. 5, and continue in the next stitch as usual, working around same as before, only making the ch.5 in each row. Continue this for 11 inches. Break yarn.

Cut the center thread of the ch.5 on each row and draw down to side. Be careful to fasten the loose threads of each side of opening.

Join up the top of the bag 8 inches from each side. On left side of the front opening make 2 rows of s.c., holding under the loose threads. On the right side of front opening make 4 rows of s.c.. On the 5th row make spaces for 4 buttonholes of 3 ch., miss 3 sts., and continue making buttonholes 2.5 inches apart. Make 4 more rows of s.c.; break yarn.

Around neck make 6 rows of s.c., in the 3d row making buttonhole on right front, leaving 1 inch at neck on both sides. Make the hood in the same stitch as bag. Instead of breaking off thread and joining for next row, make 5 ch., the same as in front opening.

Work in this way for 9 inches. Cut center thread of 5 ch. And join up top of hood on wrong side for this free crochet patterns for baby project.

Crochet 5 rows of s.c. around front of hood holding under loose threads and pulling in on 2d row of s.c. to size of face.
