Knitted Baby Hats: Child's Hood

Knitted Baby Hats Materials - Angora wool and small bone needles.

Cast on 75 stitches. Knit 40 stitches, leaving rest of stitches on needle. Knit back 10 stitches, then turn again and knit 20 stitches, knit back 30 stitches, turn, knit 40 stitches, knit back 50.

Knit all the stitches the next time. This makes the hood a little deeper at the top than at the sides. Knit 18 pearls plain.

Bind off 25 stitches. Knit 27 pearls with the next 25 stitches for crown. Bind off the last 25 stitches. Sew the sides and crown together. Take up all the stitches at the neck, and knit 8 pearls for cape, 1 row of treble crochet all around the hood put closely into every stitch. Sew eiderdown onto this edge.

Draw at neck with cord, to make proper size for head. Finish with bow, on top and back of neck, and with strings of ribbon.
