Knitted Shirt: Infants Jersey

Knitted Shirt Materials -

• Saxony yarn, half skein white, half skein color.
• Knit on large steel needles.

Cast 70 stitches.
Knit 33 pearls, then cast on 35 stitches at each end of needle for sleeves.
Knit 18 pearls.
Bind off 28 stitches in middle of needle, for back of neck.
Knit 5 pearls for shoulder, one end at a time, taking off balance of stitches on another needle.
Then add 18 stitches for half the front.
Knit 18 pearls, and bind off 35 stitches for sleeve. Then knit 33 pearls, and bind off.
Do the other front in same way.
For border on left side of front, knit 4 pearls, picking up all the stitches. Knit 6 stitches, put yarn over the needle, knit 2 stitches together. Repeat to end of needle. Knit 4 pearls plain; bind off.

For right side of front, knit 8 pearls plain, bind off. For sleeves, pick up stitches. Knit 4 pearls plain.

Next row - Knit 7 stitches, yarn over the needle; knit 2 stitches together. Repeat to end of needle. Knit 4 pearls plain; bind off.

Bottom of jersey in same way.

Sew up under the arms and sleeves. Run ribbon in neck, which is knit in same way, also in sleeves and bottom of jersey. Six buttons on front.
